Daniel: Product Manager. Einsiedeln,
Switzerland.
‘I really enjoyed my time in Rushden following the English language
course and I really learned a lot. The teaching was well structured and
very systematic.
I came home with a good understanding of the workings
of the language as well as a written record of the work we had covered. Now
I am able to apply this knowledge to further study of the language.’ |

Anneliese: Associate
Director, German, living and working in Zurich, Switzerland.
‘My name is Anneliese and I was in Rushden for two weeks following
an in-house English language course with Greta. I had expected four
hours of English each day. But what a surprise – I got an
all round package! One way or another I was ‘taught’ all
day long.
This package included, not only tuition, but also meeting
people and making new friends, evenings in pubs listening to live music
performances and even taking lessons in Argentine tango (which I enjoyed
so much that I have taken it up as a hobby back in Zurich).
I was able to practice my English all day, every day. I enjoyed
the experience very much and I really learned a lot.
Above all it was the clear explanation of English structures
and principles which gave me a clear frame of reference. Now
I understand how the language works. I still make mistakes but when
I do, I am able to self-correct. I recognise my own mistake. Not
only do I know when I have got it wrong, I know what is wrong and why. If
I have any doubts I turn to my personal grammar reference book to check..
I would strongly recommend this course to anyone.’ |

"Dear Greta,
We would like to thank you very much for the wonderful
time we spent in your house.
We much appreciated your experience and competence in
English language teaching. Your willingness to adapt the course to our
needs was very useful to us. Practice is the best way to improve anything.
The possibilities you provide: your PC programs, life together with
you, the excursions and the meetings with your friends are all very useful
and represent an optimal training to improve the English language.
We are very grateful for your kindness and hospitality. |

Stefan: Technical Manager. Sweden
‘Ms. Greta Hill is a very skilled and charming English teacher. She
had the ability to see what improvement areas I needed to develop, so that
I could get maximum benefit from her teaching and the study
programme.
She really made everything so that I felt welcome from the
moment I arrived. I can really recommend her as an experienced and skilled
English teacher. She clearly enjoys welcoming students in her comfortable,
detached house with a lovely garden.’ |

Hiro: Student. Kyoto, Japan.
‘Since there is a big difference between one country's culture and
another, I did not have much confidence to get along with a host family
before I went to Rushden. However, when I came into the house I found it
nice to stay, because the family welcomed me with open arms!! The room
and food I was offered were quite good, and the town has an English traditional
atmosphere. I have improved my command of English amazingly through studying
and various social activities like dancing, Christmas parties and watching
car racing.
After learning English with Greta, I applied to Oxford
University and have got an unconditional offer!! Thanks to the course,
I have got a confidence to study at an English university.’ |

Elisa: Student. Spinea,Venezia,
Italy.
‘I'm Elisa from Italy and I'm 27.
In May 2006 I spent a week at Greta's because I wanted to improve
my spoken English...well, a week is a very short time, but I appreciated
and enjoyed a lot the time I had at Cherry Orchard House. Thanks
to Greta and her friends, all very friendly and nice, I had the chance
to exploit every single moment of my stay and I could always speak English-
just what I was looking for!
In addition, I think that you can't study a language
without getting in touch with its culture and way of life and studying
at Greta's lets you live and appreciate the English way of life: having
dinner together, visiting her friends, going places (they took me dancing,
visiting some villages and cities, to the tennis club, to a local fete,
to pubs...) These are perfect occasions to get to know English culture
and to improve your language skill. Even if I spent only one week
there, I did so many things and I had a real "full-immersion" in
English.’ |

‘The concept of " English in the teacher’s home" is a good
one. It was a good and rapid way for me to learn.
Not only did I have the teacher all day with
English. Moreover, the teacher was very friendly and kind to me. Additionally
I was encouraged to watch and listen to news on the T.V. For example,
at the end of each BBC news bulletin, I had
to make a short summary of what I had previously heard. In my
personal opinion, it's one of the best ways to progress. |

‘We spent a super stay in Rushden last summer. We really enjoyed
the week at Greta’s home.Greta is a nice teacher. She did her best
to please us. The lessons were interesting and very pleasant. The lessons
helped us a lot, both with our oral and written work. The children felt
at home. We visited very beautiful typical English villages and we are
all sure we spent one of the most wonderful holidays. I hope we will come
back to Rushden one day.’ |
