The Course
The course is entirely student centred. The experience of the teacher
enables her to structure each course to meet the specific needs of each individual
student.
Firstly, the teacher will conduct a needs analysis to determine your individual
requirements and to identify weak areas that need to be addressed. These
language areas will be listed in logical sequence and worked through systematically. As
we do so we will compile your own personalised grammar reference book , which
you will take home with you when you leave. In the course of further
studies in your own country, you will have no more need to struggle through
pages and pages of grammar exercises in order to understand a point of language. We
can go directly to the point and explain structures and rules of grammar in
very simple terms. This personalised grammar book, clearly and concisely
written, will contain no more and no less than the information you require
in order to understand how the English language works. It represents,
in part, the ‘frame of reference’ to which Anneliese refers in
her testimonial. We do this because, simply having a statement corrected
is really of little value. Unless the nature of the mistake is clearly
explained you will not be able to apply that knowledge to your use of the language
in general. This is our guiding principle here at the Cherry Orchard
Language Studio. You are not simply told that you are wrong and then
corrected. The mistake is isolated and explained in clear and simple
terms.
In the mornings between 9am and 1pm you will have formal lessons structured
to fit your personal needs.
After lunch, you may wish to go jogging or for a walk in the park or to have
a round of golf in order to relax before beginning your homework.
Homework will be set daily, sometimes in the form of an interactive CD Rom,
which will serve to consolidate the language you learned during the morning
session. In the evenings you will be encouraged to join in with the
social life of the teachers in order to meet other English people and to put
the language to further use.

Tuition in Small Groups
Tuition
in small groups of 1-4 persons carries many of the benefits listed above.
It also creates an interesting dynamic within the group. To be taught in
a group, students must be compatible in level. Courses are
taught at the following levels:
Beginner
Elementary
Pre-intermediate
Intermediate
Upper-intermediate
Advanced
Also, students who share the same mother tongue must be willing
to show the self-discipline necessary to resist the temptation
to converse in their own language when not under supervision!
