Trip possibilities
Only an hour away from London and close to international airports. Northamptonshire is a place with beautiful countryside, a rich tradition and heritage and
charming stone villages. Our vast rural landscape is ‘quintessentially
English’ and full of character. Home to the British Formula One Grand
Prix at Silverstone, Northampton offers adrenalin as well as peace and tranquillity
and an abundance of fabulous places to shop, eat, drink, and relax.
Northampton has a particularly lively music scene and many pups offer live
music. A good example is the Malt
Shovel Tavern which presents live Blues.
Here are just a few of the many other places you can visit:
Cambridge is a wonderful fusion of the everyday and the extraordinary, a living
city that has shaped history, that today reflects the best of historic and
contemporary life and is continuing to make its mark on the future.
Bedford is a busy market town bisected by the beautiful river Ouse. The
river runs through the centre of the town and is well used by the
local rowing clubs and pleasure boats. The town has a modern shopping
centre and a museum and art gallery as well as many restaurants, clubs and pubs.
The train station runs trains to London every 30 minutes. Surrounding
Bedford are the many quaint villages of North Bedfordshire famed for their
thatched cottage and pubs.
Sharnbrook is a North Bedfordshire village located 9 miles north of Bedford,
just off the A6 and to the north of the River Great Ouse where it meets the
brook that gives the village its name. The village has its origins in Saxon
times and the name is probably of Saxon origin
Burghley
House near Stamford in Lincolnshire was the magnificent stately
home of Elizabeth's mentor - statesman William Cecil, first Lord Burghley. It
is a good example of the many stately homes the area has to offer.
London, of course, is the place where the historic past and the vibrant
present really come alive. A blend of history, ground-breaking architecture
and culture has created an amazing and constantly evolving city. Not
surprisingly the capital has become a mecca for visitors and a great place
to live. There really is something to appeal to everyone and whatever your
interests may be, the has covered.
